STMC PA General Meeting Agenda - October 8, 2024
This meeting covered various topics related to the STMC Parents' Association (PA). Key points include:
PA Executive Committee and Committee Leads: A list of the members of the PA Executive Committee and the various committee leads was presented.
Roles of PA at STMC: The primary roles of the PA are community involvement and engagement, supporting teacher wishlists and club requests, and fundraising efforts.
Upcoming Events:
Model Her Way Event: Women in Leadership: A free event scheduled for October 24, 2024, at 6:30 PM at St. Thomas More Collegiate, focusing on empowering women and networking. Keynote speakers include Dianne Doyle and Ashley Grewal.
Knight Christmas Market (KCM): Scheduled for November 30, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the STMC Cafeteria, courtyard, and potentially the track. Vendors can purchase tables/tents through Trellis.
Open House: Scheduled for December 3, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Grad 2024 Funds Surplus: Approximately $13,000-$15,000 in leftover funds from Grad 2024, with about $5,000 for refunds to families and $7,000 for scholarships ($1,000/year for 7 years). Remaining funds were allocated by families to specific programs and will be issued to the STMC Foundation.
PA x Music Program:
Christmas Music Knight (November 29, 2024): The PA traditionally provided dinner for students before the concert but is considering a change to a "football dinner" model. A baking reception is planned for November 30 after the elementary concert.
Spring Junior Music Knight (April 15, 2025): A baking reception is traditionally provided.
Music Dept Showcase (TBD): PA has provided a small baking reception.
Music Dept Banquet (tentatively June 5): PA has provided parent volunteers for serving and cleanup.
Communications Update: Several positions have been filled, including STMCPA Webmaster, Social Events Coordinator, Baking Coordinator, Volunteers Coordinator, Dance Chaperone Coordinator, and Music Knight Coordinator. The Fundraising Coordinator position remains vacant. Updates are available on the STMC Grad page on the STMCPA website, Instagram, and email.
Grad Committee - Class of 2025: Members were listed, and fundraising efforts for DryGrad, including a "Social FUN-draiser" on October 19, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM, were discussed. Families were asked to sell 4 tickets at $30 each. An online 50/50 raffle and silent auction were also mentioned.
Decor Committee - Homecoming 2024: The decor team handled Kidzone activities, which moved indoors due to weather. A nominal fee of $10 per child was charged for Kidzone childminding, and 24 kids visited, generating $240. Over 30 volunteers contributed 45.5 hours to the Kidzone.
